Everything looks new to me, I don’t even know what Sound Cloud did before this assessment.

First, the process of making podcast separated into three part, for me personally. Script, Record, Edit. I always liked to define all the term I don’t understand in the question. So before my script plan, I usually find out the definition of each term first. After that, I start plan out the structure of my speech.

The out line I separated into 5 part, First little part is to introduce myself and make an small introduce for my topic, secondly , put up a nice electric music for 7 seconds. I actually spend quite lot of time finding the creative common license music, since this 7 second long music might be the only attractive part in my podcast. After that, I start to introduced my topic in detail and speech out the online. Then will be addressing the term and provide some example allowing the audience to picture themselves a concept. Starting discuss about the pros and cons of my topic. After that having a little conclusion and end with another 7 second outro music.

I started to defining the two terms of my question first, which is social media and activism. If the audience or me can’t understand these two term, then we wouldn’t be able to understand the rest of my discussing. In my podcast, I tried to make it a educated podcast with me interview myself and answer myself. Turns out it is not a good idea, that was so awkward and I can’t even stand myself. After that, I tried to appeal with the audience so I list out several example that are popular. For example like Ice bucket challenge.

After that, it’s the part for recording. Recording is quite hard, cause Tim said that don’t make it like reading a book, but to read like a normal conversation. I agreed with that and tired like 4 or 5 times for each paragraph. Eventually, I success record all of them, and I think that I did my best for not letting my accent to come out. Record is a main things for podcast, after that is planning. Editing for me is quite easy, just need to drag things move them around and fix them together. Making sure things don’t get weird around. I actually quite enjoy the part of reading and editing, not planning though.

The challenge for this assignment is that, read script out smoothly and finding good sources. Good sources isn’t a thing you directly type the topic you wanted and choose what ever you want. Especially the music, i used to pick lots of good music in my creation to my the overall quality better, but then it require referencing and learn there is privacy within. We can’t just take whatever we want. I actually changed my edited audio for once since I realize the first music I used isn’t creative common.

From this assignment, I have learn that some information for the activism, like social media allow people to do such thing, and of cause also the risks within. After that is the first experiencing of making podcast, with the three process, write script, record audio and edit audio. We won’t learn after we do it, just like what my lecturer always said, learn by doing.

Making video is always the unique class for me, personally I like watch movie, and analyse the value within the movie, and also videos. But I never though about the process of making video will be this hard, I though the creator just have to think some cool stuff, convert them into camera shooting and then the last edit for while, — a beautiful video is made. Again, after joining the class, I learned more stuff on how to make video, not with the three step, but with a difficult step of Planning, Framing and positioning, Engagement with audience, Audion quality, Editing, Selection of appropriate source material, Use of overlays, Juxtaposition of images and sounds, Use of music. Either one of them gone wrong, the video quality will be directly impact. A professional on this make it look easy for us but actually lots of details and hard work will need to put within.

Now, lets move to the making process on my ALM102DC assignment 3, 7 minutes long video is actually quite hard for me, cause I really don’t like editing, I can say I don’t even wanted to put my time to learn how to use the application of editing video, the only part I have enjoyed, is the brain storming on planning and thinking on my script. I feels like script planning is the only thing I have done well in this class, even take a shot with my phone feel bad. So, I put 2 days of effort into my script planning to try to make the overall of my video quality higher, turns out wrote an essay with 2000+ words.

My concept of the topic is that, the goods and the bads of AI, will AI help us in our future, or develop a ability and play a character in the future society. I have contact with many AI based game and movie, and lots of them bring out good assumption AI will become in the future, much more you will have to figure it out yourself in my video. The planning of my script is start with understanding AI, learn some AI in the history and how AI are changing our life in modern years, there are lots of information allow me to think and write about, so the 2000+ major part are from here. After matching the time, I delete some part within anyways. The third part of my script is introducing the assumption I just mentioned, the potential of AI in the future.

After deleting some “I feel not so necessary content”, I start to take my shot. I planned 3 shot in my room, one is a middle angle, shooting me sitting on chair, another one in front of my face (but I can’t make it stand higher), another one a low angle shooting me sitting on chair. I only used the first 2 I choose, since the third one is weird. Just like how Tim said, shooting a talking script isn’t a easy work to be done, I tried for an hour and half to make it go as smooth as I could do. I have a weird feeling and get nervous when I start shooting. Before shooting I tried to go smooth, and it turns out ok. After turning on the camera I feel like a new born baby just started to learn English. The last version of my shooting takes me an hour something.

After that, editing. First, I find out the clips I wanted to use in my video, or else it will be boring to watch a not so handsome boy talking 7 minutes long with literally no face expression. I found out 3 or 4 creative common 0 images, and lots of cc free video from YouTube, start choosing my background music. I always do the referencing first before I done the major things, After that, I actually tried to shoot myself a stop motion clips, and it turns out very badly, so I abandonment that clip. Editing will always be a challenge for me, and I watched lots of teaching video, one by one to figure out why my workshop will disappear sometimes. I tried 4 time practical to make sure my clips not poof away from me like magical card again. Takes me more time than ever step I took in making video, a 7 minutes long.

The last last step, posting on YouTube, and hopefully no one will sue me because of my referencing, so I check my reference list again. Below is my reference list and the link to my video. Hope you enjoy watching it and hope you wont feel cringe in it, cause I already feeling it.

Online Identity

We are living in a world of technology that offers us a amzaing thing called ‘The Internet’. Our generation, more specifically teenagers of a range 18 to 37 were born with internet and smartphone (Dimnock 2018). WIth the technology, smartphone, people can easily use their phone to access ‘social media’. Social Media is understanded as a platforms that allow people blogging, social networking and vedio-sharing (T Smith 2009). All these lead to a term ‘Online Identity’

Firstly, online identity is understand as a representation of people being ‘online’, sinces there are many element that are actively contributing of our identity, people will have a sense to know us surreptitiously by just looking around with the internet and social-networking (Rob C 2015).

For me, social media is a platform that allow me to share, communicate, maintain relationships and community. The first social media account I have created is Facebook, I wanted to create it because of my friends around me were having it and I wanted to stay in touch and share my daily life with them. I don’t really know how it work at the very beggining, and I rarey use it, and now I will say that I pretty enjoying using it and pretty much can’t live without it anymore. With the more I learn about social media, I have created different online identity with different social meida which included Weechat, Facebook, Instagram,Weibo, Twitter and WordPress.

In my hometown, I used Weechat for my daily platform to share and get in touch with friends since the unique design of Wechat allow us to create a bunch of group or community to talk and share things with.

This is an example of me sharing memorable memorise with my friends in Weechat platform to stay connect with them. Usually I will mention my friend or a group of friends if I took a group photo with them to stay contact with the community. About my online identity, my friends would usually describe me as a weirdo since I intentionally made myself weird in social media, notice the caption there, “One down two to go”, I have no clue what was I thinking to write this out.

Recently,I have never really used Twitter before I came Australia and attent to the class ALM101DC, but now I feel more comfortalbe and enjoying using twitter now. I have learn how to write bio with the aim of improving proffesional and for the academic unit, how to reference correctly while using some sort of copy right picture and so on so on. Notice my profile picture is me facing behind the camera and dressed formally. I choose this picture as most of my social media profile is because that I wanted to keep some privacy and mystery sense about myself. Wanting people know that I’m just a ordinary kid and every things will be less special from it.

The very first tweet and a correct coppy right reffereces from my academic unit study. I intentially used this picture to avoid the duplication with other classmate and showing some mystery for my identity.

In my experiece along with using social media, I found out that people really like cute things such as dogs and cats, and many of them will share their pet trought the platform. I personally feel connect to them actually, since I was the type of person that take bunch of photo of my friends dogs and share to my other group to have their attention.

Other than posting my own story, tweet or moment, I will also share what I think its funny or interesting for other people to see, and having my friends to laugh while they see these sort of things, like movies, meme, game or even some political issues that worth to discuss with.

In conclusion, I don’t think I have shape my online identity too well for purpose since I still need privacy and personal space. Imagine people know who you are, what you like, what did you done before and how is your life online, but never meet you in offline. Isn’t it creepy? The advantages of technology and building online identity is making us more easy to make friends and maintain relationship around us, but we do also need to protect our privacy from the bads such as scams. Many cases that already shows that scammers will uses the information we putted online and deceive us. An example in here is an international students from Melbourne’s top universities are fleecing thousands of dollars in an online scam (Timna J 2015). Just a little personal though and thanks for watching my blogs so far.

hey guys, this is a reflection blog writing of my ALM102DC class. So, in my opinion, video is actually the most media content I need to contact everyday. Basically, it’s part of my life and I am addicted to it. Movies, Youtube, Instagram and so on, I have watch so many video in my daily life. 4 weeks ago, I have never thinking about making a video and I thought it would be easy, just roll the camera and act like everything is natural. Before joining this class, I thought You tuber and artist are easy, they just need a pretty faces and body to attract the viewer to become the famous. In fact, I was so wrong, I can’t find a moment of comfort while facing the camera, feels like everyone is watching you with every move and it just making me feel creepy. Also editing is hard, memorizing the speech is hard, having interest interaction is hard, act nature is hard, everything is hard. I have completely change my mind and attitude to those professional who make video for people’s happiness.

Back to the assignment reflection, so it’s my first time making video of my own introduction. I had no problems when face to face introducing myself to my friends, but I’ve tried so many times to record the first assignment since I have so many mistake and nervous. I tried for more than 20 times to make my speech as smooth as possible, it’s totally different from what I imagine I will do, and what I will not. I actually planed how to record the video, searching for a quite restaurant and sit there ask for permission to record. After record the draft, it end up terribly, the audio level is too bad to listen what I said. Then I went to the small field near Deakin college, same issue and so on. I think I need a new phone to record the audio more smooth. So at the end of the decision is my room, a truly peach and quite place for me to do this task. I tried to edit the music into the video at the first decision, but end up not doing it since I still didn’t figure out how to reference the copyright music correctly, I used the free music YouTube recommended to me.

I found fun and interest in the process of doing this task, I think I didn’t do too much in this first try, I can do it much more better if I try to make more video, like “what angle should I take to take this shoot” , or ” what speech or movement should I do to express my feeling”, so much more to think about. It’s a fun class and I think I’m enjoying about making video. This video for me is far from perfect, I think I will put more effort in the next assignment and thanks for Bob, which is my lecture in this class giving me this much opinion and technique of making video. Ordinary are one step away from bold

This is the first post on my new blog and it’s for my course assignment, but still I will post more blog to fill my web.

Hi, this is Garry here, My full name is Lee Jia Luo, and I’m a Malaysian living in a small town called Ipoh. It’s a peaceful town surrounded by mountain.Currently studying in Deakin college in Burwood, VIC, Australia, it’s my third trimester now and I stayed here for almost a year now.

I like lots of thing about entertainment and animals something like game, music and dogs and cats. Talk about game, there is 1 game I had played for years is called League of Legend, which was my friend introduce me and I think it’s good for training my reaction. Music, I liked many type of music like Jazz, Chill, Pop, and Hip Hop. One of my biased songs is from Tyler the Creator – Earfquake. Now, lets talk about dogs and cats, I love them! When you feeling down, they can just bring the chill and cuteness to you and relax your whole mind and body by just petting them and play with them. Wish I can get back my hometown and pet them once again.
